Karen Paul, Executive Director
Karen joined TOWF in June, 2017, after more than 17 years as the Washington Director of New Israel Fund. While at NIF, Karen also led study tours to Israel as the Director of Washington Travel. Karen is a professional fundraiser and non-profit executive with nearly 30 years’ experience raising money for groups such as NARAL Pro-Choice America, Catalyst, National Immigration Forum, DC Vote, Dance Theatre of Harlem and many others. For more than a decade, Karen headed her own development consulting operation, working mostly with progressive advocacy organizations in the Washington, DC, metro area.
Karen is a writer, with essays, short stories and poems published in the Washington Post, Lilith magazine, Red Wheelbarrow Literary Magazine, Sh’ma, Guideposts, Scribblers on the Roof, and Seltzer ezine. In addition to writing for four years for the blogsite, Current Mom, on the intersection of work and parenting, Karen has her own blog, Dwelling in Possibility, where she explores modern life, caretaking and loss. Karen is widowed and lives in Takoma Park, MD, with her three children and large dog.
